KLMHave you taken time to play today?

A few years ago I asked a group of teenagers to choose and prioritize their top 10 values. Every one of them identified "fun" as their #1 value. I then asked them to redo the exercise but this time assigning their parents' values and priorities. Not a single one of them put "fun" anywhere on the parents' lists...

You may be thinking that those teenagers had it all wrong. Of course adults want to have fun. It's just that there are so many responsibilities and commitments, right? The truth is that we don't lose our desire to play as we grow up. But "fun" often falls to the bottom of our "to-do" list.

Well, listen: Fun is waiting for you! Imagine this: With a few butterflies in your tummy, you open a door and walk into a room with some other grown up "kids." The butterflies are forgotten as you find yourself exclaiming with "oohs" and "ohs" and "ahs" when you find yourself in the midst of a sea of colorful yarns and fabrics and ribbons and buttons and little organza bags and tiny flowers and twigs and tulle and silver wings and sinnamay bows and a rainbow of markers and glitter glue and scissors and WHEW! your hands fly out, reaching for things to play with!

Then your "fairy Godmother" (oh, that's me...) takes you by the hand and shows you little by little, step by step, how to take the mountain of materials you pile in front of you and match them to the stories in your soul and the treasures of your heart. You write a little bit, you say a few things, you smile A LOT, time slips away, and before you know it the "street lights have come on and it's time to go home." And you can hardly believe what you have created ~ an amazing incredible adorable wild and wonderful doll that carries a special loving message on all kinds of levels! What a magical experience! Where can you find this for yourself? At an "inspirational doll-making" event. Yes!

Put fun in your life today! Come to Rhode Island on November 4, and "capture a dream" in a doll.
The details are right here.

Or schedule your own party or workshop or special event. I can't wait to play with you!

Thank you for helping with our "doll of prayer"
Last month many of you opened your hearts and sent in prayers and inspirational words that have given you comfort or lifted you up. THANK YOU! I'm still looking for your help as the prayer doll continues in the design phase. There will be a place close to the doll's heart where you can place inspirational words and prayers to draw from daily or whenever you like.  Please give yourself the gift of contributing to this meaningful creation. Someone somewhere sometime will see the words you share and find them to be just what they need or want for themselves or a loved one. As St. Francis said in a simple, beautiful prayer (submitted to us in French as well as English!) "it is in giving that we receive."  What words will you give?
These Angels are "Instruments of God's Peace"
~ based on the prayer of St. Francis. Each one holds a card to illustrate  one of the beautiful qualities expressed in the prayer: peace, love, pardon, faith, hope, light and joy. You will find them at the fairs listed below, or on my website. Click here to see a larger view and more choices!
